In our quest to provide our customers with security solutions that include secure windows & Doors, secure sliding gates, secure burglar bars, secure palisade fencing and many more, ROI-PROJECTS has partnered with Safeguard, a security company, to help share relevant security information. We provide some security overview and August Holidays security tips below.
SECURITY OVERVIEW
We are seeing greater awareness, more use of security systems to detect intrusion, and more reports of suspicious activity- see something say something.
The good news then is that whilst crime generally is up, the number of incidents reported for Safeguard customers is down!
Let’s not get carried away though.
- Crime generally is UP, and we have seen more reports into July.
- Violent crime is a serious concern with a growing number of reports of shootings, assault, robbery.
- Larger gangs involved in incidents, especially in the industrial/mining areas.
- Cash continues to be a target with more reported attacks on the movement and storage of cash. These attacks generally well planned and executed and involve in many cases inside information.
- In the residential areas we are seeing a few entries through the roof. Make sure your alarm systems are not in the roof or close to it. Neater we know, but easily reached and bypassed.
- A few recorded attacks during the day. Control of access important. No appointment no entry. Gates locked. Electric fence stays on. Alarm on when not at home.
- More theft reported from motor vehicles. Don’t leave valuables in vehicles. They will be stolen.
Higher risk areas at present
· Mount Pleasant and Southerton in Harare, Donnington and City in Bulawayo stand out.
Looking ahead
The holidays are a few days away, and as businesses close and more people travel, there is often an increase in crime
- Power outages are common and extended now. Make sure you have a good back up supply for your alarms and fences. Smaller lithium batteries a good and affordable option now as a replacement for your traditional BRICK sized batteries.
- If you have a guard, give him one of your panic buttons so that he can raise the alarm and response early.
- With larger gangs operating guards alone will not prevent loss. Give the guards a panic button so they can sound the alarm early and bring help.
- Turn your alarms on and lock up early whilst at home.
- Enhance physical security by installing security burglar bars. These can be welded and spray painted steel or powder coated foldable trellis bars. These can be installed within three days if ordered from ROI-PROJECTS.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
